Around the Town
The 9 foot statue in front of the Ansar Shrine Center at
630 South Sixth Street in Springfield, Illinois, was
dedicated December 2, 2000.  It was purchased by
George and Charlene Kennedy.

The Springfield statue is a replica of the original “Editorial
Without Words” which was sculpted by Harrison
Covington of Tampa, Florida.  Covington’s sculpture was
installed at the Imperial Shrine Headquarters in Tampa in
1987.  A retired art instructor from the University of
Florida, Covington  maintains a studio in Tampa, Florida.
A symbol of the Shirners’ dedication to helping children through their hospitals, the image
was originally a photograph by Randy Dieter, graphics editor of the
Kentucky Post.  For
